November 3, 2023 (San Diego) - Playoff football is upon us and tonight, we’re in San Diego as two East County schools square off.  It’s Patrick Henry against El Capitan in the first round of the CIF San Diego section playoffs.

The Vaquero D held tough and forced a safety in the early going, but junior Patriots quarterback Eli Ruiz fired back after a big gain with a nice cross pattern over the middle of the endzone and the green and gold took the lead.  But on back to back possessions, junior quarterback Brandt Barker showed why he’s a god among men with back to back air outs to wide open senior receivers, Chance LaChappa and Jonathan Biffle, and the black and gold was up 16-7 at the half after a scoreless second quarter.

The Vaqueros opened the third with a big rush and another touchdown and El Cap led 23-7 after a slow third quarter.

Barker found Lachappa again in the fourth to keep piling onto the lead.  The Patriots showed some semblance of life when Ruiz connected with senior wideout Quino Bracamontes for a short score, but the Vaqueros survive and send the Patriots home picking
