July 7, 2018 (San Diego’s East County) -- San Diego County residents today got their first look at two newly remodeled Walmart Supercenters. The El Cajon Supercenter at 605 Fletcher Pkwy, and Santee Walmart Supercenter at 170 Town Center Parkway both underwent extensive changes to better serve their customers.
The remodel of both stores included changes focused on improving convenience and customer service. According to Walmart’s press release, at the Santee Walmart, customers will now enjoy the following store improvements:
State-of-the-art electronics department with interactive displays that allow customers to try laptops, tablets, mobile phones and more before purchase
Expanded home and apparel departments with new layout and broader assortment
Enhanced baby department with strollers at floor level and easier access to everyday essentials like diapers and formula
Upgraded pharmacy with private consultation room and additional service lanes
New polished concrete floors
New fabrics department
“We’ve updated the assortment of merchandise we carry to better serve our customers, said Joseph Murray, Field Project Manager for the Santee Walmart. “In addition, we’ve widened our aisles and made our parking lot more accessible for people with disabilities.”
El Cajon has also made changes to improve the customer experience, including:

New lighting and register added in the cosmetics area

"We can't wait for customers to see all of the improvements we made in the store, and we hope their shopping experience becomes more convenient and more enjoyable," said El Cajon Store Manager Lupe Guzman. “We’ve worked hard on these updates and we think the store looks beautiful. If our customers agree, all of the work was worth it!"
In mid-April, Walmart announced it expects to spend an estimated $145 million over the next year in California through the opening and remodeling of more than 30 stores as well as the rollout of several in-store and online innovations designed to help busy customers save time and money.
