March 2, 2019 (El Cajon) -- The City of El Cajon Teen Coalition is now accepting applications for the “Youth of the Year” Award, recognizing outstanding youth who go above and beyond serving their community!  This annual award is given to one middle school and one high school student, honoring them for their leadership abilities and/or their quality or level of community service. Final awards will be based on dedication and commitment beyond what may be required by the school and its effect on the community.

Nominations are reserved for youth who are residents of the City of El Cajon or who attend a school located within the city limits of El Cajon. These students will be recognized and awarded for service accomplished within the 2018 calendar year. The awards will be presented at a future (or upcoming) City Council meeting.

If you’d like to nominate a deserving student, applications are available at the Recreation Department located at 200 Civic Center Way, at City of El Cajon Recreation Centers, and on the City’s website at www.cityofelcajon.us.  Applications must be received by March 21, 2019.  For more information, please call Fa’amalo “Malo” Lutu at (619) 441-1555 or emailflutu@cityofelcajon.us.
