EL CAJON'S JOE MACKEY RECEIVES STATEWIDE HONOR

Staffing Association’s Life-Time Achievement Award Presented to local businessman

 

May 4, 2010 (El Cajon)--On April 23, the California Staffing Professionals honored Joe Mackey with the Lifetime Achievement award named after James R. Pierce. Judy Lawton, President of CSP nominated Mackey for his outstanding efforts in education, legislation and leadership. Mackey, an El Cajon resident, is the founder and owner of XL Staffing and was also recently nominated for El Cajon’s Citizen of the Year in 2010.

 

He was presented with the James R. Pierce Lifetime Achievement award during the Gala Dinner of the Annual Staffing and Recruiting Conference held at the Pacific Palms Resort in City of Industry, Ca.Pierce formulated CSP’s California Institute of Education for Consultants -CIEC (now California Accredited Consultant-CAC) program and was the trade association’s strongest advocate. He testified many times in Sacramento before committees to acquaint legislators with the organization’s aims and goals.

 

Mackey served as President of the association from 2005-07. During his tenure, he changed the organization chart formulating the “TEAM” concept, strengthened communication and responsibility.
“We were off and running under his tutelage and leadership and still hold true to those methods today,” Lawton said in nominating Mackey.

 

He was also responsible for acquisition of the CAC Program by the ASA. The program now, Certified Staffing Professional, creates a revenue stream for CSP that helped during hard times. Mackey is known as the PACMAN, the most successful Political Action Committee chairperson; he raised the most money and led the charge in Sacramento to meet with and lobby legislators about bills impacting the staffing industry. Mackey still serves on the Executive Board of CSP as past president and as a board member of the American Staffing Association.

 

He established XL staffing in 1996, leading regional employment agency providing temporary staffing services, primarily to the industrial/manufacturing and tourism/hospitality industries.
