February 9, 2024 (El Cajon) -- The City of El Cajon's Teen Coalition is now accepting nominations for the “Youth of the Year” award. This accolade is aimed at recognizing exceptional middle and high school students who have shown an extraordinary commitment to serving their community within the City of El Cajon.

The “Youth of the Year” award honors one middle school and one high school student who have demonstrated outstanding service to their community, going above and beyond the call of duty to make a significant impact. Eligibility for this award is reserved exclusively for youths who either reside in the City of El Cajon or are enrolled in a school located within the City’s boundaries.

This year’s award will celebrate service achievements made during the calendar year of 2023, from January 1 to December 31. The aim is to highlight and commend the hard work, dedication, and positive influence these young individuals have contributed to their community.

Nominations are now open and will be accepted through April 1, 2024. Interested parties are encouraged to download the nomination form available under the “Teen Coalition” tab on the Parks & Recreation section of the City of El Cajon’s official website. Completed forms should be submitted via email to Tim O’Melia at tomelia@elcajon.gov.
