May 27, 2016 (Dulzura) – A collision on State Route 94 near Lucky Six Truck Trail in Dulzura has left a man dead and three people injured, including an 8-year-old child.

A 35-year-old man from Mexico was driving his white 2000 Ford Focus westbound on State Route 94 this afternoon at 4:10 p.m. when his vehicle drifted onto the shoulder. He overcorrected and veered into the eastbound lane, where he was struck by a 2004 Toyota Corolla,

The Ford Focus driver was pronounced dead at the scene.  A 42-year-old woman driving the Toyota and her two passengers, boys ages 8 and 17, were transported to UCSD Medical Center and Sharp Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the Toyota driver could not avoid a collision.  All parties were wearing seatbelts and alcohol does not appear to be a factor, though the collision remains under investigation.
