FBI WARNING: DON’T OPEN PHOTOS OR VIDEOS OF BIN-LADEN , WHICH MAY CONTAIN MALICIOUS VIRUS

May 4, 2011 (Washington D.C.) – E-mails that claim to show photos or videos of the killing of Osama bin Laden may contain a virus that will damage your computer and steal your identity, the Federal Bureau of Investigation warns.

The malicious software, or "malware," can embed itself in your computer and spread to your contact lists. Disguising itself in messages that appear to be from you, the virus can then infect infect the systems of your friends, family members and associates.
 

The viruses are often programmed to steal personally identifiable information, the FBI said in a statement Tuesday.
