VALLECITO DAY MARCH 28 CELEBRATES 1860'S LIFE ON THE FRONTIER

 

February 16,2015 (Vallecitos) – Take a trip back in time to life on the 1860s frontier during Vallecito Day on March 28th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Vallecito County Park.  Visit pioneer men and women in period attire,  join in activities of the era, and learn about the roles of cattle drives and cattle ranching played on the Southern Overland Trail.  Witness the arrival of trail riders on horseback, visit a mountain man camp, see cattl ranching demonstrations, and hear historic talks.

ST. PATRICK'S WEEKEND RACES, BEER & WINE FESTIVAL IN CAJON

 

February 16, 2015 (El Cajon) – You’re invited to join in St. Patrick’s Day weekend festivities on Sunday, March 15th.   Choose from a half marathon, a 5K run or a green mile competition to compete for a large cash prize pot, medals, and  free drinks after the races at the St. Patrick’s Beer & Wine Festival in downtown El Cajon (Main Street and Magnolia).

February 10, 2015 (Lakeside) - A Western Sweetheart Dance featuring country artist Patrick Trampus will be held at the Lakeside Rodeo Grounds on February 21st from 5 to 10 p.m. with entertainment starting at 6 p.m. A coronation for Miss Rodeo Lakeside will also be held.

TOMATOMANIA: MARCH 14 AT WATER CONSERVATION GARDEN

 

February 7, 2015 (Rancho San Diego)—Tomatomania, the world’s largest heirloom tomato seedling sale, is coming to the Water Conservation Garden at Cuyamaca College (12122 Cuyamaca College Drive) in the Rancho San Diego neighborhood of El Cajon.  Tomatomania will take place on March 14th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

TROUT STOCKING AT SANTEE LAKES FEB. 6

 

February 3, 2015 (Santee Lakes) - Santee Lakes will be stocking lakes two and three with 1,000 pounds of trout on Friday, February 6th – bringing the total of Rainbow Trout planted in the lake since November to a whopping 10,500 pounds.  For  fishing information, you can visit www.SanteeLakes.com.

February 6, 2015 (Campo) – St. Adelaide Parish is holding its Valentine’s Day Dinner Dance February 15 from 5 – 10 p.m. at the Campo Community Center, 976 Sheridan Road, Campo.  The evening will include dinner, dancing, a live auction and raffle.  For dinner, you can feast together on lasagna, salad, bread, beverage and dessert.

Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased by calling 619-569-7567.  The evening is adults only.

January 18, 2015 (San Diego) –Around the nation including here in San Diego a “4 Mile March” is set for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, March 19th to build a new civil rights movement. Locally the march will begin at 1 p.m. at the City Heights Weingart Library, 3775 Fairmont Ave., and will end at the Malcolm X Library, 400 Roosevelt Street.

“The goal of every 4 Mile March in every city is the same: to bring awareness to the national epidemic of racial profiling and police violence, and to honor all the lives lost as a result,” a flyer for the event states.

COWLES MTN. WINTER SOLSTICE WALKS DEC. 20-22

 

December 15, 2014 (San Diego’s East County) - The Mission Trails Regional Park Trail Guides will lead pre-dawn hikes to the area of the solstice observatory on Cowles Mountain on the 20th and 22nd of December. The Canyoneers of the San Diego Natural History Museum will lead the hike on the 21st.
