May 22, 2009 6 p.m. updated (San Diego's East County) -- A fire burning at Willow Glen Drive and Singing Canyon near Sycuan is now more than 65 acres and 20% contained. Voluntary evacuations have been made along Vista Sierra Drive but no structures have been damaged.

Leonard Villareal, spokesman for the San Miguel Fire Department, confirms that the blaze was started accidentally by police shooters at a firing range, East County Magazine has learned. A resident sustained a minor burn and one firefirefighter was overcome by heat. "The fire is burning up a hillside toward several homes at the top," ECM businses manager Leon Thompson reported from the scene at 1:30 pm., when he shot the image in this story. Nick Schuler, Cal-Fire Captain, spoke with ECM's editor at 1:15 p.m. "There are seven engines, two crews, 1 dozer, 1 helicopter and 2 air tankers," he said. Full containment is projected for tomorrow. Readers, if you live in this vicinity or have more information please post in the comments section below.
