August 25, 2010 (San Diego’s East County) – Local firefighters will be participating in the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s annual “Fill the Boot” campaign, raising money to help find a cure for the crippling disease. On September 2, watch for local firefighters stationed around the County to coincide with the annual Labor Day telethon hosted by actor Jerry Lewis for muscular dystrophy.

Just like in the previous years, MDA representatives will be driving around the District supporting our crews with treats, coffee and water,” said Captain Kendal E. Bortisser of San Miguel Fire District.

“I am hoping to get as many off duty volunteers as possible to help out…Here’s to Jerry’s kids!”
