San Diego State's five selections tied for the second most in the conference

April 26, 2024 (San Diego) -- The San Diego State women's golf program had five former players named to the Mountain West All-25-Year Team. Milagros Chaves, Fernanda Escauriza, Emma Henrikson, Sara Kjellker and Christine Wong were recognized for their outstanding collegiate careers.
 
San Diego State's five selections tied for the second most in the conference.

 
Chaves (2015-18) won the 2015 Mountain West Championship and was a two-time WGCA Scholar All-American (2015 & 2018). The Asuncion, Paraguay native was a two-time All-Mountain West Second Team (2015 & 2018) selection and shot a 214 at the 2018 San Francisco Regional, which is a school record 54-hole score for a regional championship. She also has the school record for the lowest 18-hole score (66) and 54-hole score (210, tied) at the Mountain West Championships, which she recorded in 2015.
 
Escauriza (2017-20) won the 2017 Mountain West Championship and was a two-time All-Mountain West Second Team (2017 & 2019) selection. Escauriza, who is also from Asuncion, Paraguay, was the 2017 Mountain West Freshman of the Year and her conference championship score of 210 that year is tied with Chaves for the best 54-hole conference championship score.
 
In 2016, Henrikson (2013-16) was the Mountain West Golfer of the Year and a WGCA All-American Honorable Mention. In her storied career, Henrikson (Malmö, Sweden) was named to the All-Mountain West First Team all four years and won three individual tournament titles. On two occasions, she shot a 10-under-par 206, which is tied for the third-best 54-hole score in program history.
 
In 2021, Kjellker (2018-22) was the Mountain West Golfer of the Year, a GolfWeek All-American honorable mention selection and the conference champion. Kjellker (Hollviken, Sweden) was a school record five-time All-Mountain West selection, making the first team four times and the second team once. She shot 66 three times, which is tied for the third-best 18-hole score in school history.
 
Wong (2010-13) won a school-record five individual tournament titles, including the 2012 Mountain West Championship which helped earn her Mountain West Golfer of the Year honors. Wong (Richmond, British Columbia, Canada) was a four-time All-Mountain West selection and the 2010 Mountain West Freshman of the Year. Her career-best 10-under-par 206 in 2010 is tied for the third-best 54-hole score in program history.
 
The Aztecs begin the Mountain West Championships Tuesday morning at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
