March 3, 2015 (Lakeside) – Sheriff’s deputies trying to serve an eviction notice at an apartment in the Riverview Villa Apartments on Woodside Avenue in Lakeside this morning made a gruesome discovery.
A woman renting the apartment told them that a dead person was in one of the rooms. Deputies found a box containing a decomposing body. They obtained a search warrant and found additional body parts inside the apartment.
Neighbors told 10 News that the woman lived at the apartment with her disabled adult daughter who was bedridden and hasn’t been seen for months.
The mother was taken for a mental health evaluation. No charges have been filed at this time.
The county Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death and identity of the deceased person, said Lieutenant Kevin Nelson.
