February 5, 2010 (San Diego’s East County) – Faced with a budget crisis due to state funding cuts and declining revenues, Grossmont Union High School District’s governing board will consider seeking waivers from state requirements for hearing screenings and minimum attendance requirements for special education students in summer school programs.

The district projects that if current trends continue, it will run out of reserve funds by the end of this fiscal year, with a $20 million budget shortfall by 2012.

The meeting begins at 4 p.m. with brief public comments on non-agenda items, followed by closed session. Agenda items, including the above, will be discussed at 6 p.m. when public comments will be accepted.
