WEEKEND HALLOWEEN SCENE  & MORE EAST COUNTY EVENTS

For
a frightfully good time this week (not to mention satisfying your sweet tooth
cravings), you’ll find plenty of Halloween haunts in East County.

Start with Wednesday night’s “Trunk or Treat” in El Cajon,
where classic car club members will be doling out goodies.  On Thursday,
dig into a pumpkin pie-eating contest and costume party in Valley Center, or
chill out at the Otay Haunted House.

Go iceskating for a cool time on Halloween night at Kroc Center’s Boo
Bash.  Or take a ride on a haunted train at Poway’s Once upon a
Halowe’en event.  You can also visit the Spring Valley Halloween
Festival, Spring Valley Halloween Festival, or any Westfield Mall for trick-or-treating
to Scare Away Hunger.   Grown-ups looking for an All Hallow’s
Eve event will find plenty to sing about at Scareokee in Warner Springs Resort’s
cantina.

On Saturday and Sunday, catch a final performance of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate
Factory – or participate in an East County fair for first-time homebuyers
in El Cajon on Saturday.

Finally, this weekend is a good time to volunteer to help your favorite political
candidate, with the election coming up next Tuesday.  Just check the website
for your favorite candidate or local political party to find out how to get
involved with precinct walking or phone banking – or volunteer to be
a poll worker or poll watcher on election day.

Watch for our election special edition on Monday full of nonpartisan info
on candidates and issues – and don’t forget to vote on Tuesday,
November 4th!
