October 17, 2023 (Lyons Valley) – “Happiness is saving a dog,” Cal Fire/San Diego Fire posted on Facebook today, along with photos of a dramatic rescue.
Cookie, an 85-pound Rottweiler, had fallen into a crevasse between rocks in Lyons Valley and became stuck. Firefighters from Station 32 Lyons Valley and Station 36 Jamul responded, using a jackhammer, pick hammer,cribbing, webbing, and soap to free the dog.
After working more than three hours, firefighters were able to extricate Cookie.
Cal Fired, posted, “A big thank you to @sdanimalservices for assisting us on getting Cookie out with the help of sedation so it was less stressful for this four-legged patient. Rottweilers are known for their strength and loyalty, and we appreciate the opportunity to help Cookie out! “
