January 24, 2019 (San Diego’s East County) -- Heartland Fire & Rescue is currently recruiting for the position of Paramedic/Firefighter. The agencies is looking for individuals who are just starting off their career or are looking for a lateral opportunity.

Heartland Fire & Rescue consists of The Cities of El Cajon, La Mesa, and Lemon Grove and will be conducting the application and examination process jointly. Separate eligibility lists will be established by each agency for their respective vacancies. Candidates may be placed on more than one agency's eligibility list.

 

 

Interested applicants must submit and complete an online application and supplemental questionnaire by the application deadline. The City of El Cajon online application process will be used for all agencies.

The examination process will consist of the following components:
 
Physical Abilities Test (Pass/Fail): February 20, 2019
 
Appraisal Interview (Weight: 40%): February 27-28, 2019
 
Paramedic Skills Assessment (Weight: 60%): March 5-6, 2019
 
CLOSING DATE: 02/08/19 12:00 PM
 
On January 1, 2010, the Cities of El Cajon, La Mesa, and Lemon Grove entered into a Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement for organizational management of fire protection, fire prevention services, emergency medical services, and community emergency preparedness. This cooperative sharing agreement created an organization that is recognized as Heartland Fire & Rescue, an ISO Class 1 fire department.
