HELP DESIGN A WHEEL PARK AT LINDO LAKE

(April 26, 2011 -- Lakeside) Skaters, bikers, scooter riders and everyone  is Invited to share Ideas. Interested young people and adults are encouraged to attend an upcoming meeting

to help design a proposed wheel-friendly plaza for Lindo Lake Park.

The meeting is scheduled for 6- 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, at the Lakeside

Community Center, 9841 Vine St.

World-renowned park designer Mike McIntyre and professional skateboarder and

designer Kanten Russell, both of Action Sport Design, will lead the meeting’s

brainstorming sessions. They will develop several concept plans, and bring the plan back to a May

meeting for everyone’s consideration. The public will also be able to view the proposals and give input online.

Over the past year, the Lakeside Skate Park Committee, a group of community

members, has developed a general vision for the wheel-friendly park. Approximately

13,000 square feet, a hybrid plaza with street-style and ramp elements would serve

diverse users of all ages and skill levels. The park would also be used to provide

numerous Lakeside Community and Teen Center programs.

The Lakeside Planning Group has authorized $45,000 in Parkland Ordinance Fees, which are collected from developers, to plan the wheel park.
