State Board of Equalization Now Accepts Online Requests for Payment Plans

Sacramento – The California State Board of Equalization’s (BOE) newest convenient website service allows qualifying tax or fee payers to request a payment plan online. Payment plans allow tax or fee payers to pay down a past due balance over time, helping them avoid additional penalties and interest.

“We understand that sometimes taxpayers get overextended and cannot make their payments on time,” said BOE Executive Director Cynthia Bridges. “We want to work together to find solutions.”

Almost any tax or fee payer with a past due balance can apply for a payment plan. To be eligible, customers need to file all required tax or fee returns and have a checking or savings account. Program details and restrictions are available online at www.boe.ca.gov.

Assistance is also available by calling the BOE’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-400-7115.

The five-member California State Board of Equalization (BOE) is a publicly elected tax board.  The BOE collects $52.5 billion annually in taxes and fees supporting state and local government services. It hears business tax appeals, acts as the appellate body for franchise and personal income tax appeals, and serves a significant role in the assessment and administration of property taxes.  For more information on other taxes and fees in California, visit www.taxes.ca.gov.
