September 27, 2018 (Lakeside) – A collision on Wildcat Canyon Road this morning has resulted in two fatalities. A 21-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man, both from El Cajon, died after they were ejected from a 1992 Honda Accord that struck a 2013 Porsche Cayenne.

According to the CHP, the Honda was traveling south on Wildcat Canyon north of Willow Road at a high speed when the Honda struck a concrete curb. The driver veered left, directly into the path of the Porsche, which was driven by a Santee woman, 43.

“The two vehicles collided broadside,” said Officer Travis Garrow. “The force of the impact split the Honda in half.”

The man and woman were ejected from the Honda onto the roadway. Emergency personnel arrived, but the man died at the scene of major injuries. The woman was flown via air ambulance to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. It is unknown which one was driving the Honda when the accident occurred.

The woman driving the Porsche also sustained major injuries and was taken by ground ambulance to Sharp Memorial Hospital. She is expected to survive.

It is believed that all of the victims were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision. No other vehicles were involved. It is unclear whether alcohol or drugs were factors.

A SIG Alert was issued and Wildcat Canyon closed after the crash. California Highway Patrol is seeking witnesses to the collision.

Air Ambulance?

Air ambulance was requested but could not operate due to weather (ceiling) concerns. All patients were transported by fire department paramedics (Lakeside and Barona) to Sharp Memorial's trauma center.
