December 11, 2023 (Ramona) – A Ramona man, 59, suffered fatal injuries when he was struck by a 2023 Nissan Altima yesterday morning around 6:15 a.m.  According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was crossing State Route 67, also known as Main Street near the intersection of 14th street in Ramona against the “don’t walk” illuminated sign.

“The Nissan was unable to avoid the pedestrian and crashed into him, causing fatal injuries to the pedestrian,”  says Officer Jared Griesheber with the CHP. The Nissan overturned and came to rest against the Bank of America building.

The driver of the Nissan, a 23-year-old Ramona woman, stayed at the scene. Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash,  Office Griesheber said.

The identity of the deceased will be released through the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office.

The investigation is continuing. If you have any information regarding this crash, contact Officer Jared Grieshaber at (619) 401-2000.
