August 30, 2011 (Julian) – Beautiful, historic Julian is an enjoyable place to experience art galleries and shops selling local artists’ works. This weekend, the Julian Art Guild hosts a Labor Day show that brings together numerous artists in one place on September 2-5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Julian Town Hall, upstairs, on Main Street.

In addition, a reception to meet the artists, along with refresnments, will be held Friday, September 2 from 5-8 p.m.

On exhibit will be oil, watercolor and acrylics paintings, works in pastels, clay, photography, weaving, jewelry, mixed media and more. The show is free and open to all with lots of parking nearby.

You will get a chance to vote for your favorite artist at the show and there will be a scavenger hunt for the kids with prizes.

The drive through the mountains has wonderful views and lots of things to see as apple season also approaches; you can also tour the historic gold rush town via horse and buggy. Enjoy the shopping, food, museums, hiking, horseback riding and of course, the pies!  View our guide to a Julian road trip here: http://www.eastcountymagazine.org/node/4377
