LA MESA LAUNCHES URBAN WALKING TRAILS

July 26, 2009 (La Mesa)—La Mesa invites the public to get up, get out, and get moving with the city’s Urban Walking Trails—a free program offering beginner, intermediate and advanced walking routes for all ages and fitness levels. Led by walking host Fit-X San Diego, Fitness Professionals, the walking explorations of La Mesa are held each Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.

The Stroll (beginner), a one mile flat route, meets at the corner of La Mesa Blvd. & Nebo Drive Tuesdays at 6:45 p.m. and Saturdays at 8:00 am.

The Stride (intermediate), a five mile route with slight hills, meets at Jackson Park Saturdays at 8:00 a.m.

The Challenge (advanced), a three and half mile route with hills and steps, meets at Highwood Park Wednesdays at 6:45 pm and Saturdays at 8:00 a.m.

Funding is thru the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, Grossmont Healthcare District and La Mesa Collaborative. Free water bottles are available to participants. Call 619-667-1300 for more information or www.cityoflamesa.com.
