February 2, 2017 (La Mesa) – Several drivers report that a man on a bicycle with his face covered frightened them by screaming and pointing what appeared to be a gun covered with a cloth.

“I hear this loud yelling noise, and I see this character coming right at me like this, and it looks like he’s holding a gun,” Dr. Bruce Thiessen told 10 News. “Next thing I know, it’s like about, he reaches right into my window, and he holds it three or four inches from my head.”

Thiessen said he was stopped in traffic on Grossmont Boulevard at Murray Drive, near Grossmont High School. Other residents have posted on the Mt. Helix Next Door forum that similar incidents including loud threats occurred near Circle K in La Mesa at Grossmont Blvd. and La Mesa Blvd.

Yet another poster indicated someone matching the description was also seen by Grossmont Center.

Some have indicated the assailant was disheveled with greasy hair and may be homeless.

La Mesa Police confirmed to 10 News that they have had several complaints and are searching for the individual.  If you see the suspect, please contact La Mesa Police or call 911 immediately.
