LA MESA OFFERS FREE DISPOSAL OF HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTES & ELECTRONICS

June 1, 2009 (La Mesa)--If your household has hazardous wastes, the City of La Mesa and California Integrated Waste Management Board have teamed up to offer free pickup and disposal on June 6, July 18, August 29, October 10 and November 21. The City is also giving away a free nontoxic thermometer to any resident who brings in a mercury thermometer.

Household hazardous waste items include batteries, fluorescent bulbs, electronics, paints, solvents, cleaners, chemicals, used motor oil and antifreeze, medical sharps (syringes), pool and garden products, and propane. Call (619)287-5696, ext. 4270 to arrange a pickup, or call 1-800-237-BLUE for more disposal options.
