November 8, 2024 (La Mesa) – The La Mesa Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 71-year-old Vivian Crowder, who has been missing for more than a week. Mrs. Crowder was last seen outside a salon in La Mesa around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 though there are unconfirmed sightings elsewhere in the county.
Mrs. Crowder suffers from dementia and does not have her medication with her. She was last seen wearing a beige head wrap, blue denim jacket, blue and brown floral shirt, black stretch pants with rhinestones and turquoise shoes.
Community members are encouraged to call 9-1-1 immediately if they believe they see Mrs. Crowder, avoid contacting her directly, and observe her from a distance while awaiting a law enforcement response. Given Mrs. Crowder’s health conditions, she may be confused and startle if contacted by a stranger, according to LMPD.

We are asking for the community’s assistance in bringing Mrs. Crowder safely home to her family. This includes keeping an eye out for her during your travels, sharing any pertinent information, and sharing this story via personal social media platforms.
La Mesa Police have received reports and reviewed video indicating that Mrs. Crowder walked away eastbound from the 8200 block of La Mesa Boulevard and crossed over Spring Street along La Mesa Boulevard between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on October 29. At 10:37 a.m., she is seen on camera walking eastbound from 8313 La Mesa Boulevard. There was a reported sighting of Mrs. Crowder at the Sprout’s grocery store located at 3205 Lemon Grove Avenue in Lemon Grove around 1:30 p.m. that afternoon and another reported sighting in the area of the IHOP restaurant at 6135 Balboa Avenue, San Diego as of November 6, 2024, but investigators have been unable to locate evidence that confirms she was at those locations.
Mrs. Crowder is familiar with the MTS Trolley system and is a long-time resident of San Diego. She has lived at several residences along the Imperial Avenue corridor, to include residences in the neighborhoods of Emerald Hills and Mountain View, but is not familiar with the La Mesa area.
