January 7, 2014 (Lakeside)--On January 19th, 2014, at 7:00 pm, the Lakeside Fire Protection District will take to the airwaves with the “Lakeside Emergency Net”. This new amateur radio net was developed to establish a working relationship between the Lakeside Fire Protection District and the amateur radio community throughout the East County area.

The East County Repeater Association has allowed the use of their Rattlesnake Mountain repeater for the Sunday night net. This optimal repeater site should provide fantastic coverage to the greater Lakeside area, said Bob Robeson, and provide the opportunity for all licensed amateur radio operators in the region the ability to participate. The Lakeside Fire District would like to express their appreciation to this fine organization for the use of this repeater.

The repeater is located on an output frequency 147.765 with an input frequency of 147.165. The tone to access the repeater is 79.7

The net will be conducted by the Communications Volunteer Group of the Lakeside Fire Protection District. The net will originate from the River Park Fire Station Complex in Lakeside. The Communications Volunteer Group is a organization of dedicated local civilian amateur radio operators that will serve as Net Control Manager.

This net provides a unique opportunity for ham radio operators, of all proficiency levels, the opportunity to operate in a net format. But better yet it gives us the opportunity to prepare as a community for potential future emergencies.

Questions about the net can be sent to radionet@lakesidefire.com
