July 19, 2017 (La Mesa) - Laughter is the best medicine and makes for great plays. George Bailey, president of the board at Lamplighters says they are not out to wow the critics, but entertain their audience. As such, they are pretty much crushing it. If a play at Lamplighters sounds like you would enjoy it, you probably will.

Women in Jeopardy is a laugh out loud comedy that gives you a couple hours of complete escape and entertainment. With that name you might think it's something entirely different. Don't let the name fool you. It's comedy pure and simple. Totally entertaining.

The stand out for me in this play was Devin Wade, too funny as the young buck. He's only done a few roles, but he must be a natural. I look forward in watching him grow in shows throughout the county. Raylene J. Wahl was so natural as Mary; she was perfect. Holly Stephenson is great. Michele Dixon, more down to earth. Emily Candia played the younger girl, bringing in a youthful flair.  She was a real joy, also looking forward to seeing more of her. Rounding out the cast playing a duel role was Matt Solz. He gave off a creepy vibe, exactly what his role called for. Director Rob Conway brought out the best in his cast. Go. Laugh.

Lamplighters is teaming up with United Way to prevent summer slide in students. Which means students forget what they learn during the summer. To help prevent this, please bring a book suited to fourth grade or younger to donate when you come see the play. Or just stop by to donate your book.

The next play which promises to be just as funny, "Daddy's Dyin' Who's got the Will?' August 25. 2017.
