Trails To The Stream: Poetry and Inspiration for Everyday Living, by Priscilla Koranteng (Poised Publishing LLC, 2014, 136 pages).

Book Review by Dennis Moore

July 4, 2015 (San Diego’s East County) - Priscilla Koranteng, author of two earlier books reviewed by this writer in the East County Magazine; Janju: The Voice of One Girl and Janju: A Village Girl in a City World, and the owner and publisher of Poised Publishing LLC, as well as an HR consulting firm; Poised HR Solutions LLC, has written a moving and insightful book on poetry: Trails To The Stream: Poetry And Inspiration For Everyday Living.

Trails to the Stream is a collection of powerful, spirited and inspiring poetry that unites shared human struggles with a colorfully individual voice. Extolling the virtues of positivity and determination in the face of all of life’s hurdles. Koranteng’s words add flair and artistic vigor to themes that unite her readers, no matter their background.

Success, perseverance, love and friendship are common threads that tie together the wisdom of having lived through and learned from life’s hard lessons, and yet share in and promote an optimistic joyfulness, one which charges each reading with a fresh, rejuvenated and spirited look on life.

Above all else, the poems remind the reader of the importance of holding our heads high and sticking steadfast to the pursuit of life’s ultimate mission – to always look on the bright side, no matter what.

This author from the central region of Ghana, has one particular poem that stands out and resonates with me, which is as follows:

IF ONLY SHE KNEW

If only she knew how much respect she commands

If only she knew how many girls want to be like her

If only she knew how many girls she inspires –

If only she knew

How many people she has inspired with her

Amazing personality.

She ran that day

She ran from fame

She ran from shame

She ran from her reflection.

This is just one of the many powerful poems in this book that I am sure will resonate with readers, as it has with me.

Trails To The Stream: Poetry and Inspiration for Everyday Living

Great job Dennis, I love the poem you featured here from Ms. Koranteng's book If Only She Knew. As a lover of poetry and a poet this truly resonates with me. It's a book that I will enjoy reading. Additionally, I like the cover which seems so serene and peaceful, and most likely will draw people in. I get a feeling that the poems are theme oriented and spiritual in nature. Priscilla, thank you for writing and subsequently publishing this piece for our enjoyment. Jacqueline Carr Author - A Selected Few Just For You
