September 6, 2016 (Ramona) – A 33-year-old motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck while attempting to pass a Toyota Tacoma shortly before 1 p.m. today in Ramona.

The motorcyclist was riding a Harley Davidson westbound on Dye Road when he crossed a double yellow line to try and to pass the Tacoma, which was starting to  make a left turn onto Duraznitos Road, according to  California Highway Patrol Officer Kevin Pearlstein. The motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway’s shoulder.

He suffered major life threatening injuries, and was transported by air ambulance to Palomar Hospital.

A 28-year-old woman driving the Tacoma and her 18-year-old female passenger were transported by ground ambulance to Palomar.

The collision remains under investigation and it appears alcohol and or drugs were not a factor, Officer Pearlstein said.
