MAN ARRESTED FOR FATAL SHOOTING OF WOMAN IN ALPINE

Update February 27, 2019: The victim has been identified as Melanie Benitez, 27.  Paraschak, 42, has been charged with murder.

 

February 24, 2019 (Alpine) – A man armed with two guns was arrested yesterday for killing a woman in Alpine. Paul Paraschak has been charged with murder, Lt. Rich Williams told 10 News.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls shortly after 2 p.m. from residents near Victoria Drive and England Place. Callers reported hearing shots fired and seeing a man with a gun walking in the area

 

Deputies responded and found a white man matching the description, armed with two handguns. Officers also found a gravely injured woman partially out of a vehicle parked on Victoria Drive. “She was pronounced dead at the scene by Alpine Fire Department personnel,” says Lt. Williams.

 

The Sheriff's Homicide Unit responded is investigating he crime. No details have yet been released on motive. The County Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy.

 

The name of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of family.
