MAN SHOT IN HEAD DIES: LA MESA RESIDENT CHARGED WITH MURDER

Update June 6, 2019 -- Artale has been found guilty of second degree murder.

October 4, 2017 (La Mesa) – La Mesa resident Christopher Artale is now charged with murder after the man he allegedly shot in the head, Aldo Alfonso Prado, died during the night of his injuries, La Mesa Police report.

Artale, 40, has pled not guilty. If convicted, he could face 35 years to life in prison. His bail is set at $1.5 million, NBC 7 reports.

Police say that Prado, a 35-year-old resident of National City, was acquainted with Artale. According to police, the men got into an argument late Sunday afternoon in front of Artale’s home in the 4400 block of Glen Street. Prado reportedly brandished a knife and began vandalizing Artale’s vehicle. Artale then produced a handgun and fired.

Responding officer found Prado laying on the street with a gunshot wound to his head. The victim was transported to a hospital in serious condition before succumbing to his injuries.
