MAN WHO THREATENED NEIGHBORS ARRESTED AFTER 2-HOUR STAND-OFF IN EL CAJON

May 14, 2010 (El Cajon) – Brett Stephen Rose, 23, of El Cajon was arrested at last night after reportedly threatening a neighbor, then barricading himself inside an apartment at 1038 Peach in El Cajon.

 

El Cajon Police responded to a 911 call at 5:15 p.m. from residents of the complex, who said a neighboring tenant threatened to shoot them. The reporting party also observed a masked individual inside the suspect’s apartment, standing at a window holding a firearm.

 

When police arrived, it was determined that probable cause existed for the suspect’s arrest on charges of felony criminal threats. The suspect, who was on active probation, barricaded himself in his apartment and refused to surrender to authorities. El Cajon Police Department’s SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiations Team were called to assist.

 

After approximately two hours of negotiations, the suspect finally surrendered without further incident, police report. He was taken into custody and subsequently charged with one count of felony criminal threats.
