November 27, 2017 (El Cajon) -- On November 29, Mercedes-Benz will hold a Grand Opening and begin welcoming customers to its brand new state-of-the-art dealership in El Cajon. The new dealership, located on a five-acre site at the corner of Marshall Avenue and Wagner Drive, will replace Mercedes-Benz’ existing location on El Cajon Boulevard.

El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells stated “This is a significant investment in our community. Not only does the new dealership stand to bring more customers to El Cajon to buy high-end luxury cars, but it will also create good paying jobs for our residents.”

The 70,000 square foot dealership continues the City’s longstanding leadership position with the new auto industry and is the twelfth new car retailer in El Cajon. In March, the City Council also approved plans for a thirteenth dealership – Jaguar and Land Rover. Construction on that dealership is expected to begin in early 2018 and will be located directly across the street from Mercedes-Benz.

This is the second time the Oremor Automotive Group, who owns the Mercedes-Benz dealership, has made a significant investment in El Cajon. In 2015, when the dealership first opened in El Cajon, the owners remodeled the former BMW dealership.

City Manager Doug Williford stated that “The City is proud to acknowledge Oremor Automotive Group for their continued investment in El Cajon. The much larger dealership will bring in new tax dollars and that translates into better services and quality of life for El Cajon residents.

El Cajon continues to attract significant business investments by major corporations. A new four-story 120 room Courtyard Hotel by Marriot will open in the new year and work is scheduled to begin on a new 96-room Hampton Inn by Hilton at the site of the former police station on Fletcher Parkway.

In December, the City Council is expected to approve an agreement that will bring LiveNation, the world’s largest live music producer, to El Cajon to manage and operate the renovated East County Performing Arts Center.
