May 7, 2015 (Washington, D.C.) - On May 9th Black mothers from across the United States will converge on Washington, DC to demand an end to the murder of unarmed husbands, sons and more frequently their daughters by police terror and white vigilantes. The Department of Justice has forfeited its legitimacy by exonerating the killers of unarmed Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown providing the perfect storm for a war against Black and Brown people in this country. Frederick Douglas said: I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my leg.  We are coming to Washington, DC to pray with our feet and demand an end to the killings of our children.
Maria Hamilton, founder of Mothers for Justice United will lead the Million Moms March for Justice. Hamilton’s son, Dontre (31)  was killed by Milwaukee Police Officer Christopher Manney on April 30, 2014.  Maria came to know the suffering which has been visited on all too many black mothers whose children have been victims of police or vigilante violence.  Unarmed young black men in particular have been effectively executed for minor crimes, such as jaywalking, suspected theft of cigars, selling loose cigarettes, shoplifting, or, as in the cases of Trayvon Martin and Dontre Hamilton, the noncriminal acts of making white people uncomfortable or fearful in public.
Marion Gray-Hopkins joins Maria Hamilton in the circle of pain caused by police terror. Marion’s unarmed son Gary Hopkins, Jr.,(19) was viciously killed by a Prince George’s County Police officer on November 27, 1999. “The pain, the sadness, the emptiness and many days of anger, lamented Gray-Hopkins is “something I wouldn’t want any mother to experience. On May 9th, I will stand in solidarity with my sisters and brothers from across the country to demand that cop killers are held accountable when they murder our children.”
Carl Dix, Activist and founder of the Stop Mass Incarceration Network was arrested last week during a New York protest demonstration demanding the end to murders of black and Brown men. Dix offers: " Either you will add strength to the fight for
justice or your silence will allow what we have now – a horrific slow genocide and degradation of a people – to continue and worsen.   Nobody with any claim to oppose police murder, nobody with any claim to conscience can at this point stand aside from the call for major outpourings of people to support the Million Moms March for Justice on May 9th."
Dr. Marsha Coleman-Adebayo, Coordinator of the Hands-Up CoalitionDC added, “The Coalition, stand in solidarity with our sisters and brothers facing state sponsored murder by police terror and white supremacy. We demand Black community control of police.. Police have exercised their right to human bounty and flesh with abandon. No other community in America is remotely surveilled at this micro level. “

Deserttrek made such an unbelievable and insensitive comment about a class and race of people, which I am a part of. To put it in more perspective we need only look at an appeal made by Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy J. McGinty from Judge John P. O'Donnell's judgment entry journalized May 23, 2015, finding Defendant-Appellee Michael Brelo not guilty on two counts of Voluntary Manslaughter in the  shooting deaths of Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams. Mind you, white police office Brelo jumped up on the hood of the car in which blacks Russell and Williams were in and killed these unarmed people. McGinty's appeal specifically states: "They were shot 47 times, with the final 15 shots being fired by Brelo after he climbed on the hood of Russell's dilapidated 1979 Chrvy Malibu. Brelo fired three magazines and reloaded his weapon the second time from the hood of Russell's car before bending over, gripping his gun with two hands, and firing at the unarmed Russell and Williams from point-blank range." This is a scary and almost unimaginable scene here in America, and makes one wonder if this Deserttrek considers these victims "thugs" and if he could find anything justifiable about this shooting, or any circunstances under which it could be justified.
