MISSING SENIOR FOUND DEAD NEAR I-8 ONRAMP IN LA MESA

December 3, 2024 (La Mesa) – The body of Vivian Crowder, a 71-year-old woman with dementia who has been missing since October 29th was found this morning by workers from  Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol along the onramp from La Mesa Boulevard to eastbound Interstate 8.

La Mesa Police department expressed profound sadness at the discovery that Crowder is deceased.  LMPD had sent out multiple bulletins to media and other law enforcement agencies seeking help to find the missing woman, who was last seen walking on the shoulder of State Route 125 near the I-8 overpass the afternoon that she went missing.

Police had speculated that a good Samaritan might have given her a ride, but her body was found just one freeway exit away from where she was last seen.

The cause and manner of death has not yet been determined, The La Mesa Police Department’s Investigations Unit, in partnership with the San Diego County Medical Examiner, will continue its investigation into the full circumstances surrounding her death.

La Mesa Police thanked the many citizens, volunteer organizations. And the Sheriff’s Search and Rescue for their help searching for Ms. Crowder since she was reported missing.

The Crowder family has asked for privacy following news of Vivian Crowder’s death.
