May 26, 2023 (El Cajon) – A woman staying an El Cajon motel paid for by a county program for the homeless overdosed on Fentanyl this afternoon.

She was saved by her father, who had come to check on her and found her unconscious on the floor, with her baby on the bed nearby.“Her father obtained Narcan from a motel employee; and administered the medication to his daughter,” says Captain Rob Ransweiler with the El Cajon Police.

Police and fire personnel responded to a call reporting the overdose at Relax Inn & Suites, 1220 West Main Street. When they arrived, the woman was conscious and declined any additional medical treatment.

The child was taken into protective custody and transported to Rady’s Children’s Hospital, where a drug screen on the baby tested positive for fentanyl.

The mother, Brianna Millar, was arrested for child endangerment.

Motel staff confirmed that Millar’s room was being paid for by Equus through a County of San Diego funded emergency housing program.
