MOTHER ARRESTED IN EL CAJON CRASH THAT KILLED 3-YEAR OLD, INJURED 2 OTHER CHILDREN

Update April 8, 2015: The victim has been identified as Carly Ramirez, 3, daughter of Carlos Ramirez and Brandy Teague.

April 5, 2015 (El Cajon)—  Brandy Teague, a 31-year-old mother, is under arrest after a crash killed her 3-year-old daughter and injured two other children of hers in the vehicle.

The accident was reported at 9:43 p.m. Saturday night on Broadway in El Cajon. According to witnesses, the silver Hyundai driven by Teague was traveling east when it left the roadway and collided with a telephone pole. 

“The driver may have fallen asleep behind the wheel before the collision occurred,” said Lieutenant R. Soulard. Teague is charged with gross vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a controlled substance and driving on a suspended license.

She has been booked into the Las Colinas women’s detention facility in Santee.

All three children, ages 10, 3, and 2 years, were immediately transported to Children's Hospital. The driver was taken to Sharp Hospital for treatment after complaining of pain.

Shortly after arriving at Children's hospital, the 3 year-old girl was pronounced deceased as result of her injuries. The other two children were admitted with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
