November 17, 2008 (El Cajon) — The mother of all East County festivals
takes place this Sunday, November 23rd.  The Mother Goose Parade in downtown
El Cajon is the largest parade in San Diego County and the biggest parade of
its kind west of the Mississippi.  This
year, parade organizers have assembled a dazzling array of 50 celebrity participants
led by grand marshals Tori Spelling (star of Tori and Dean Inn Love and Beverly
Hills 90210
), KayCee Stroh of High School Musical fame, and Padres
first basement Adrian Gonzales.

Sunday morning kicks off with the 2nd annual “Run with the Goose” race
at 8 a.m. (Pre-registration on Saturday is strongly recommended).   Next,
a pre-parade show at 9:40 a.m. will be held in front of the grandstands, starring “Nuttin’ But
Stringz” of  America’s Got Talent fame.   Grandstand
seats between Selzfeld and W.D. Hall cost $25, however free viewing is available
on the opposite side of the street and along the remainder of the parade route.

At 10 a.m., the televised parade opens at Main and Magnolia with an Air Force
Fighter jet flyover.  Floats, bands, equestrians, helium balloons and
a host of stars are all part of the parade.  The two-and-a-half hour parade
ends with a traditional appearance by Santa Claus in his sleigh, ushering in
the start of the holiday season. (For those eager to hobnob with the stars, “Dinner
with the Stars” will be held Saturday night in downtown San Diego, at
$150 a ticket.)

Mother Goose Parade is an

Mother Goose Parade is an awesome event, it's a tradition but new to outsiders. I love the parade, the music, food, everything and it gets better each year. The kids clad in amazing outfits won my heart this time. The soldiers and some of the artists were also looking perfect. It is truly an exciting event and wish I could attend this event everywhere.
