November 7, 2013 (San Diego) – The Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) advises fans taking the Trolley to Qualcomm Stadium for the Chargers versus Denver Broncos game Sunday, Nov. 10, at 1:25 p.m. to travel early and to purchase trolley tickets on their smart phones to avoid crowds.

MTS will increase the number of pre- and post-game Green Line trains that provide direct service to Qualcomm Stadium from downtown and Santee.  Expanded service begins at 8:45 a.m. between Old Town and the stadium and at 9:50 a.m. between Santee and the stadium.  After the game, MTS will operate extra Green Line service in both directions as needed.

Chargers fans are strongly encouraged to travel early as trains will be crowded or at capacity after 11:30 a.m. Passengers attempting to board trains after 11:30 a.m. should expect delays as trains reach capacity at stations closest to the stadium.  Regular Green Line riders are urged to travel two hours before kickoff or wait until after the start of the game to avoid congestion.

Trolley day passes are now available for purchase on smart phones with the MTS mTicket app. Tickets can be purchased in advance and multiple tickets can be purchased on one phone. People with mTickets can avoid ticket lines before the game and use the mTicket Express Lane to bypass a large number of people waiting to board the trolley after the game.  To download the app, search “MTS mTicket” at the App Store or Google Play, or visit www.sdmts.com/mTicket.asp.

Fans can also buy their Day Pass on their Compass Card at any ticket vending machines before boarding. The Day Pass is $5 for current card holders. If you need a Compass Card, there is an additional initial cost of $2.  Keep your Compass Card for the next time you ride MTS services.  A commemorative $6 Day Pass and $3 roundtrip ticket for senior/disabled are sold at staffed ticket booths at high-volume stations. The $6 commemorative Day Passes are also sold in advance at the Transit Store at First and Broadway, and at the Chargers Team Store at Qualcomm Stadium, Gate G.

Fan  heading to Qualcomm via the Trolley can use free park & ride lots at Old Town, Morena, Hazard Center (lower level only), Grantville, Grossmont Center, Amaya Dr. (La Mesa), El Cajon Transit Center, Gillespie Field and Santee Town Center. Orange Line fans should transfer to the Green Line at either Grossmont Center or Santa Fe Depot.  Blue Line fans should transfer to the Green Line at the 12th & Imperial Transit Center.

MTS also advises fans to be aware of the NFL’s new bag policy limiting the size and type of bag that will be allowed into the Stadium.
