MURDERED CAB DRIVER IDENTIFIED: VICTIM FREQUENTED EAST COUNTY LOCATIONS; SHERIFF SEEKS LEADS

October 31, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – Jalaludin Hamrah, 39, has been identified as the cab driver who died after he was shot and rolled over his taxicab in Lemon Grove at 3:48 a.m. Hamrah, who is Middle Eastern, worked for the Main Street Cab Co. and has frequented the El Cajon and Lakeside areas, including Barona Casino, according to a bulletin issued this evening by the San Diego Sheriff.

“The San Diego Sheriff’s Department Homicide Detail is seeking the public’s assistance for any information that may help identify the suspect(s) and a motive for this crime,” the bulletin states.

 

The roll over traffic collision occurred near the Lemon Grove Trolley station on Main Street in Lemon Grove. The victim, Hamrah, was 5 feet 5 inches tall , weighed 175 pounds, and had brown eyes and black hair.

 

According to the Sheriff’s release, “Mr. Hamrah rolled his vehicle as a result of being shot and ultimately succumbed to his injuries.” Paramedics were summoned by firefighters who extricated Hamrah from the vehicle, but they were unable to revive him and he died at the scene.

 

Hamrah, an immigrant from Afghanistan, was described as a nice, respectful driver by fellow cabdriver Mir Enayatullah Sada, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.  He recently divorced and worked as a consultant for the U.S. Marines at Twentynine Palms as a consultant as well driving a cab, according to court records.
