MY 1079 FM ANNOUNCES SPORTS BROADCAST PARTNERSHIP WITH THE GROSSMONT UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT

August 15, 2012 (Alpine) -- In a collaborative effort to increase high school sports media coverage in the East County of San Diego, the Grossmont Union High School District, in cooperation with the San Diego Section of the CIF, has awarded the live sports broadcast rights to media entity MY 1079 FM. The station will provide live broadcasts of a "Game-of-the-Week" for the Grossmont District schools. The current agreement is for the 2012-2013 scholastic year. Sports will include football, basketball, baseball, and more.

 

The coverage will be Trimulcast using a low power FM radio terrestrial signal, internet streaming at My1079.com, and smart phone broadcasts using the Tune-In Radio App, to the residents and families of East County and beyond, and will cover games for ten high schools in the Grossmont District. The games will also be podcast on the My1079.com website for listener convenience. The first broadcast is scheduled to air on Aug 31st.

Established in 1920, the Grossmont Union High School District provides education to over 20,000 students in grades 9-12. It includes the El Cajon Valley, El Capitan, Granite Hills, Grossmont, Helix Charter, Monte Vista, Mount Miguel, Santana, Steele Canyon Charter, West Hills, and Valhalla High Schools.

MY 1079 FM (East County Broadcasting Corp. -- KRLY-LP) is a non-profit, community based and volunteer managed radio station for the East County area of San Diego. We strive to inspire, educate, and entertain with programming and music that reflects the local community. We seek to provide a space for media access for community members, and local businesses. We further provide emergency broadcast services for disasters such as wildfires and earthquakes.
