March 10, 2012 (Rancho San Diego) -- The principals of Senior Resource Group (SRG), who have achieved national prominence for their senior living communities, have launched InTouch at Home, to bring SRG’s superior level of service to seniors who choose to age in place in their homes, according to Michael Grust, president and CEO of SRG.

Josh Allen, RN, C-AL, has been named director of the new SRG senior living company, which will offer a wide-array of home care services to seniors and others in need of assistance and support. The company also offers a specialized Care Transition Program to help discharged patients transition from hospital to home.

“The driving force behind SRG’s success has been the combination of genuine hospitality and high levels of accredited care. For instance, in 2004 SRG became the first major senior living provider in the U.S. to earn across-the-board accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities or CARF,” said Grust.

“Our aim is to extend the SRG philosophy to the home care industry by providing dedicated professional staff who are trained in both home care and hospitality,” explained Allen, who has been part of the SRG team for more than 10 years.

Services will range from personal care assistance to escort services, household chores to just about anything on a person’s To Do list, including medication reminders and prescription maintenance.

The Care Transition Program features more intensive care, starting during the discharge process at the hospital and continuing at home, as necessary. InTouch at Home’s personal care attendant can also keep family members and health care providers apprised of the patient’s needs.

“Hospitals support transition programs, especially because readmission penalties from the federal government are looming,” said Allen, noting that one in five Medicare patients who leave the hospital will be readmitted within 30 days. “Our Care Transition Program is designed to reduce the possibility of readmission.”

InTouch at Home has commenced with offices at three of SRG’s communities in Southern California:  La Vida Real in Rancho San Diego, The Village at NorthRidge in Northridge and the Village at Sherman Oaks.  InTouch at Home will serve clients located within close proximity to each office enabling InTouch to offer convenient packages or services by the hour. With a two-hour minimum, InTouch introduces the ultimate levels of flexibility and value to home care.

Plans call for the expansion of InTouch at Home throughout the SRG network of communities in Oregon, California, Arizona and Florida.

Certified by the California Association for Health Services at Home (CAHSAH), InTouch at Home’s standards adhere to the highest ethics and business practices in the home care industry.

“By applying the same staffing procedures employed by SRG communities, all InTouch at Home employees will be rigorously screened and trained, ensuring the reliable delivery of quality and supportive services that are targeted to the client’s needs,” said Allen.

“Our expansion into home health care is a natural progression of our experience with senior living communities,” added Grust. “Our residents continually give us feedback about how they want to live and that input guides us in everything we do. Now we are bringing that insight to the home care industry.”

Government statistics show that 10,000 people will turn 65 every day for the next 20 years and an AARP survey shows that 89 percent of seniors want to age in their own homes for as long as possible.

“Throughout SRG’s 20-year history, we have been driven to create environments that enhance the quality of people’s lives as they age,” said Grust. “With InTouch at Home, we are bringing hospitality into the home in a way that enhances a person’s independence and lifestyle. With onsite home care, clients have the option of living independently utilizing only the services they choose.”
