July 2, 2009 (Lakeside) –  A child whose head became trapped in a storm drain has been freed following a dramatic rescue.  The seven-year-old boy tried to retrieve a toy that had fallen into a storm drain near 10252 Big Cone Court, when his head got stuck.

Lakeside Fire crews, with assistance from El Cajon Fire & Rescue, responded to reports of the trapped youngster at 10:35 this morning.  It took approximately 40 minutes to extricate the child using “Jaws of Life” equipment to break apart and spread-open the concrete and steel drain structure.

Once the child was extricated, he was examined by Lakeside Paramedic Firefighters and was found to be uninjured.

HEY

thats my little brother!! his name is brandon baker and he was trying to get his baseball

Thanks for sharing your brother's story.

Chasing lost balls must be an occupational hazard of childhood! My brother once chased a football down a canyon and wound up having to go to the doctor to get cactus spines removed from the back of his knee.
