August 9, 2016 (San Diego) - San Diego State women’s tennis head coach Peter Mattera revealed his team’s schedule for the 2016-17 campaign on Tuesday. The Aztecs will play host to three fall tournaments before opening the dual-match season in late January.

San Diego State will open the fall campaign with a pair of fall tournaments, one on campus and one at Barnes Tennis Center. SDSU Fall Classic #1 is set for Sept. 30-Oct. 2, while the ITA Regionals, a tournament co-hosted with USD, is scheduled for Oct. 20-24.

The Aztecs will hit the road for a fall tourney for the first time in recent memory when they head to Lakewood Ranch, Florida, for the Dick Vitale College Tournament, which will run from Nov. 4-6. The fall will end with SDSU Fall Classic #2 at Aztec Tennis Center, Nov. 11-13.

The dual campaign begins on Jan. 21 with a doubleheader vs. UC Riverside and UC San Diego with Cal State Fullerton to follow on Jan. 28. The month will end with SDSU’s first road match of the season, a date at UC Irvine, on Jan. 29.

The first day of February will take San Diego State to Los Angeles where it will play USC at 1:30 p.m. PT. The Aztecs will continue their string of Golden State foes on Feb. 4 when Cal Poly visits. The Mustangs will be followed by California on Feb. 5.

A two-match road trip to Moraga is next on the docket when SDSU travels to play Saint Mary’s on Feb. 11. The next day the Aztecs will take on Washington in a neutral-site contest on the SMC campus.

After the short trip to the Bay Area, San Diego State returns to Aztec Tennis Center for a four-match, 10-day homestand. In order, Hawai’i (Feb. 15), Long Beach State (Feb. 17), Eastern Washington (Feb. 22) and Arizona State (Feb. 25) will come to Montezuma Mesa.

A short road trip to cross-town foe USD (March 1) stops the homestand, but the string of home matches continues on March 5 when Brown heads west. After the Bears, it’s Sacramento State (March 10), Yale (March 13), Dartmouth (March 19), Princeton (March 24) and the Mountain West opener vs. UNLV (March 31).

After playing 10 of 11 at home, San Diego State will play two of its last three regular-season matches on the road. Sticking with the Silver State theme, SDSU is set to face Nevada in Reno on April 9 before coming home for Senior Day vs. Fresno State on April 13. The finale will take the Aztecs to San José State for an April 26 match.

The Mountain West Championship will be contested in Las Vegas on the campus of UNLV on April 27-30.
