LA MESA ARTIST EXHIBITS LANDMARKS IN WATERCOLORS AT LA MESA HEALTH LIBRARY

August 9, 2016 (La Mesa) –  The Dr. William C. Herrick Community Health Care Library, a consumer health library at 9001 Wakarusa St. in La Mesa, is now hosting its Summer Art Exhibit featuring 19 watercolor paintings by award-winning artist Marilyn Hadley Hallam of La Mesa. The show runs through September 30. The exhibit features paintings of San Diego and Southern California landmarks, as well as landscapes.

Hallam is a plein air painter who has traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe. Plein air means “open air” and refers to paintings created outside and on location. She graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in fine art from San Jose State University. She has studied in France, completing an art conservation course at the Louvre Museum in Paris. Hallam is a member of the San Diego Watercolor Society, East County Art Association and La Mesa Lions Club. She also supports the San Diego Museum of Art’s efforts to promote art education in East County schools. Her paintings are on display at the Colorado State Capital Building and in international private collections.

 

Admission to the Herrick Community Health Care Library is free. The Summer Art Exhibit is open to the public during regular library hours, which are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays through Fridays, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
