March 28, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State track and field junior Ashley Henderson was named the Mountain West Outdoor Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for her performance at the 39th annual Aztec Invitational this weekend.

This is the second weekly conference honor of Henderson’s career. Her first came on March 29, 2016, following her performance at last year’s Aztec Invitational, when she won the open 100-meter dash, the invitational 100, invitational 200 and anchored the winning invitational 4x100-meter relay.

In the second day of the Aztec Invitational on Saturday, March 25, Henderson ran the fastest 100-meter dash in program history and in the NCAA across all three divisions with her 11.10 time. The St Louis native’s time surpassed Tonette Dyer's 11.20 school-record time, set in 2004. She previously ran the 100 at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 10.96 but because the time was wind-aided, it does not count as a school record.

The 2016 MW champion and an All-American in the event, Henderson was .08 faster than the NCAA's next fastest time in the 100, which was recorded by USC's Deanna Hill at the Aztec Invitational.

Henderson also anchored the 11th-fastest 4x100 relay in the NCAA this year at the Aztec Invitational (44.40), which was third all-time in SDSU history for second place at the meet.

The Aztecs stay local next weekend, taking part in the California Collegiate Invitational hosted by UC San Diego on Saturday, April 1.
