September 8, 2010 (La Mesa) – Mayor Art Madrid, members of the La Mesa City Council and staff held a ribbon cutting at the Challenge Center yesterday to celebrate completion of a new shade trellis at the facility, which specializes in rehabilitative therapies for people with severe disabilities including brain and spinal cord injuries.

“Many people worked hard to build this trellis, so our clients could keep cool while waiting for their ride in the hot sun and to ad an interesting design feature to Sunset Park and Challenge Center,” said Bill Bodry, founder and president.

Challenge Center made the improvement to the facility which it leases from the City of La Mesa at Sunset Park, 5540 Lake Park way La Mesa, in a building that originally housed the San Diego Chargers training camp.

Future plans include meditation garden at the rear of the property and another shaded area at the rear of the building, Bodry added.
