May 9, 2024 (Poway) – Sharp HospiceCare broke ground on the Moore MountainView Hospice Home in Poway Tuesday, marking the introduction of its fourth hospice residence within San Diego County. Slated to open in early 2025, this homelike facility is designed to provide comfort and specialized care to patients and their families. It will feature six bedrooms, family rooms, a kitchen, a dinette, and a nurses’ station, along with a serene garden area for family gatherings.
“We serve over 300 patients in their own homes every day, and occasionally, a patient needs more than their caregiver can provide in their own home. That’s where these special hospice residences come in,” says Suzi K. Johnson, vice president of Sharp HospiceCare. “With our hospice homes, we are able to support patients and their families at the end of life with expertly trained healthcare providers, including nurses, social workers, physicians, volunteers and more.”
The Moore MountainView Hospice Home is named in recognition of a significant donation from Lori Moore, registered nurse, and her family, founders of the Cushman Foundation. Five generations of the Cushman family have been instrumental in volunteer leadership and philanthropy since the founding of Sharp HealthCare. This enduring legacy continues to impact numerous lives and now extends to Sharp HospiceCare.
The home is being built at 16752 Espola Rd, Poway, CA 92064 by HGW Architecture and Barnhart-Reese Construction, Inc. To learn more about Moore MountainView Hospice Home and Sharp HospiceCare, visit www.sharp.com/envision/initiatives/hospice.
