By Miriam RafteryMay 29, 2024 (Lakeside) — The Lakeside Firefighters Charitable Organization invites you to a pancake breakfast on Saturday, June 8 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at Fire Station 2, located at 12216 Lakeside Ave. in Lakeside.
For just $5, enjoy pancakes, eggs, sausages, orange juice and coffee. Plus, view fire engines, tour the fire station, enjoy games and a dunk tank, learn CPR and get fire prevention tips, and vie for prizes in an opportunity drawing.
“This event, which we anticipate will draw between 500 and 1000 attendees, is a significant opportunity for our community to unite,” says Fire Captain/Paramedic Jose Corona, who is overseeing the event.
Lakeside Firefighters Charitable Organization provides vital assistance to firefighters and their families, including families of firefighters facing hardships. Even before starting their new charity, Lakeside firefighters have participated in many charitable giving efforts, including the San Diego Burn Institute's "Camp Beyond Scars" boot drive, MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) boot drives, and the Kids News Day fundraiser for Rady Children’s Hospital.
Over the years, Lakeside firefighters have also participated in events like the Lakeside parade and Lakeside rodeo. They have financially supported various Lakeside youth sports. In addition, they have awarded scholarships to El Capitan High School students seeking higher education in college or vocational training for the past 20 years. They have also helped local families in need during the holiday season.
