February 26, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) 10:05 a.m. -- Snow is completely covering the freeway at I-8 from State Route 94 in the Crestwood area, CHP has just announced.

Numerous hazards are also present on many other major freeways and roadways.  East County and inland San Diego traffic hazards include:

Highway 94 is flooded at the Daley Ranch Dip near Jamul Estates. “Unaware drivers are speeding through and risking their safety and others, as the water is deep enough to cause hydroplaning,” the Deerhorn Valley Antler warns in an alert posted moments ago.

State Route 125 is flooded on the northbound side near Highway 94.

Snow is clogging Old Highway 80 in the Campo area.

In Alpine, vehicles are stuck in heavy snow on Willows Road, awaiting tow trucks.

CHP has requested that the County bring out flood signs for Lakeside Avenue between Channel and SR-67, where the westbound land of Lakeside Avenue is completely flooded one foot deep.

An overturned truck on Montezuma Valley Road in Borrego has been stuck in snow for several hours, just off the roadway, while emergency workers wait for the weather to clear enough to remove the vehicle.

A vehicle traveling on Highway 78 at Orinoco has become stuck in snow.

Chains are required on Sunrise Highway at Mount Laguna, on Mount Palomar, and on the Montezuma Valley Road into Borrego.

In Julian, motorists stopping to put chains on vehicles near Pine Hills Road about a mile outside of town are causing a hazard.
